animals & animality and just act natural | kingstonPosted by Nikki Reimer on Wednesday, June 23, 2010

![]() I am super excited to attend the Animals & Animality Interdisciplinary Conference taking place this weekend at Queen's University. I've never been to Kingston and hope it treats me well. The temp when I land is supposed to be 27 C, which will be a shocker from the mid-teens and clouds we've had in Vancouver since, oh, February? Also my "East Van Cats" piece will take part in the adjunct Just Act Natural art exhibition, which is also exciting for me because it's my first show, and also I'm very interested in the other works, in particular Lauren Hortie's subversion of those ubiquitously porno-creepy American Apparel ads. But they all look quite intriguing. Animals & Animality is organized by Jaime Denike (formerly of Vancouver), Laura McGavin and Jess Roberts. Just Act Natural is curated by Lisa Visser. Keynote speakers include Carol J. Adams and David Clark. ![]() In : events & contests & conferences & such Tags: queen's exhibition "animals & animality" "just act natural" conference graduate interdisciplinary "animal ethics" "east van cats" "lauren hortie" blog comments powered by Disqus |
